Education Director – Function First
Kevin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management: Wellness and Fitness, and is the founder and director of Movement Masterminds. Kevin is also the Director of Education for Function First, located in San Diego, CA. and the co-creator of Function First’s Pain-Free Movement Specialist Curriculum.
Previous to his role with Function First, Kevin was an instructor in the Personal Fitness Trainer Diploma Program – which is offered through NAIT: Canada’s largest Polytechnic institution.
He now devotes his time to one-on-one coaching, writing, consulting, content development and speaking. He’s been the featured author in Fitness Informer magazine, the Edmonton Journal, Calgary Herald, Vancouver Sun, Ottawa Citizen, Regina Leader-Post, Saskatoon Star Phoenix and the Montreal Gazette.
In 2012, Kevin was the inaugural recipient of the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology’s (CSEP) Certified Personal Trainer of the Year Award.
Anthony Carey, MA, CSCS, ACE-AHFS, holds a Master’s degree in biomechanics and athletic training and owns, Function First, located in San Diego, California, which was named San Diego’s 2011 BEST Alternative Exercise Studio by the readers of the San Diego Union Tribune; as well as, named among San Diego’s 2011 and 2010 “Best Of” Personal Trainers/Studios.
Anthony is recognized internationally as a leading expert in biomechanics, corrective exercise, functional anatomy and motor control. He was named Personal Fitness Professional Magazine’s 2009 Personal Trainer of the Year and has received recognition for his work in the national media, including the New York Times, Time Magazine and Oprah’s “O” Magazine.
Anthony has authored two best-selling books: The Pain-Free Program: A Proven Method to Relieve Back, Neck, Shoulders and Joint Pain and Relationship and Referrals: A Personal Trainer’s Guide to Doing Business with the Medical Community, and consults for the San Diego Chargers as well as some of the largest equipment manufacturers and health clubs in the world.
Michol Dalcourt is an internationally recognized, industry leading expert in human movement and performance. He is the founder and Director of the Institute of Motion, inventor of the fitness tool “ViPR” and co-founder of PTA Global. As an international lecturer and educator, Michol has authored numerous articles on human design and function, developed a series of performance videos and created an athletic model for high performance training (the RMA model).
Michol delivers solution-based lectures that offer a current perspective on the body, based on the latest research in biomechanics, anatomy and training methodologies. He has an incredible knack for taking very complex concepts in science and making them simple and easy to put into practice. Michol has become known in the industry as the source for fundamental understanding of relationship within the body.
Derrick Price has been active on many levels in the fitness industry for over a decade. He holds a Masters of Science in Exercise Science and Health Promotion with an emphasis on injury prevention and performance enhancement from the California University of Pennsylvania where he has also spent time as an Adjunct Faculty member teaching courses in Exercise Program Design.
Aside from personal training at the acclaimed Function First exercise studio in San Diego, CA, Derrick also is a Master Trainer for ViPR, PowerPlate, Core-Tex ,Technogym, Hyperwear and the Institute of Motion. He began his educational career as a Master Instructor for the National Academy of Sports Medicine and has since moved on to become a Faculty Member for the Personal Training Academy (PTA) Global.
Derrick currently resides in San Diego, CA where he enjoys many outdoor activities such as hiking, trail-running, disc golf and a variety of other sports.
John is a Master Performance Coach and Faculty Member of PTA Global. With 15 years of personal training and strength and conditioning experience, John has shared his experiences in cities across the world as a Master Trainer for Technogym, ViPR, Power Plate & Hyperwear, John travels extensively delivering energetic, memorable presentations and mentorships.
He holds a Bachelors degree in Athletic Therapy and Sport Performance. Currently John serves as the Fitness Director at Midtown Athletic Club in Weston, Florida. He is also the Programming Director for Institute of Motion based out of Solana Beach California.
A native of Lucky Lake Saskatchewan, John moved to Edmonton at 18yrs old to attend the University of Alberta in Edmonton Alberta, Canada. In 1999 he graduated with a Bachelors in Physical Education in Sport Performance. John was the first personal trainer hired by World Health Club in Edmonton in 2001 and helped develop the personal training department as the Director of Education and Performance until leaving in October 2013 for sunny south Florida.
John resides is Sunrise Florida with his wife Lisa and Golden Retriever “Jersey.”
